News: SELF-PACED MATLAB COURSES

Self paced, online Matlab Training is now included for all Middlesex University students and staff as part of our agreement with Mathworks

If you already have a Mathworks account with your university email address and already followed the activation procedures you can skip to the Matlab training section.

Matlab Download & Activation

NOTICE: The Matlab license will expire each year around end of July

If you already have Matlab but its saying your License has expired: You can follow the Re-Activating Matlab Instructions

Follow the 4 Steps to complete Matlab installation:

  1. Register account with MDX email
  2. Associate acount with MDX license
  3. Download Matlab version of choice
  4. Install & Activate Matlab

Followup Steps:

  1. Complete online Matlab training
  2. Re-activate yearly

Notice: You must be logged into your MATLAB account and be associated with the university licence to access these courses: Online Matlab Training Courses

1) Register with your Academic Email address

IMPORTANT: use your @live.mdx.ac.uk or @mdx.ac.uk email

  1. it has to be the MDX email account else it will not get activated
  2. ALSO: you MUST select Academic Use (with site license) INSTEAD of Student Use.

Please register for an account with http://www.mathworks.com/accesslogin using your mdx.ac.uk email account I repeat, unless you use a @mdx.ac.uk or a @live.mdx.ac.uk account, AND select Academic use with site license, your will NOT be able to install our version of Matlab.

2) Associate your accounts with the Middlesex Uni license: 

Login to Mathworks.com
---------------
a) click My Account
b) click Manage Licenses on the left
c) click Add license on the right
d) Select Activation Key and click next

Provide the Activation Key: 55359-08974-94935-03655-88104

3) Download Matlab (Use version of choice)

We recommend you Download Matlab while on campus due to the download size.

4) Install Matlab

Install Matlab using your new Mathworks account (mdx email with the password you received in your mdx email)

At installation time provide the Activation Key: 55359-08974-94935-03655-88104

The reason for this is that we should be able to show what the real usage of Matlab really is within the Uni and the various departments...

Yearly Re-activation of Matlab required

To Re-activate Matlab if you already have Mathworks.com account and still have your *.mdx.ac.uk email 
The license expires every year and this page will be updated with the new license code.

You can then follow the following instructions:

Windows:
Start=>AllPrograms=>MATLAB=>R201xx=>Activate MATLAB R201xx

Apple OSX users:
Go to /Applications/ right click on your MATLAB app select Show Package Contents 
look in the bin folder. 

Its the first item in the bin folder: activate_matlab.sh
If any details have changed or if you are having problems activating Matlab AND you have followed these instructions, then you can visit the Science and Technology technical offices for support or email "sattechnicians" from Outlook Online.
